Superior Construction Services was proud to be a key partner in the expansion of this aggregate material handling & processing facility, a project focused on increasing the site's production capabilities through the construction of a new secondary plant designated to produce base material. As one of Superior's larger aggregate projects, this job showcased our team's ability to deliver complex concrete construction under high-pressure conditions.
Scope of Work:
Our scope included the installation of reinforced concrete foundations for critical plant components, including hoppers, electrical houses, dual log washers, dual screens, secondary screens, crushers, stationary stackers, and radial stackers.
This project required precise coordination, particularly during the scheduled shutdown of the main conveyor system, which supplied the active plant. To meet this challenge, the installers conducted a dry run to ensure all new equipment would function seamlessly upon reactivation. During the shutdown, timed to coincide with the conveyor's power outage, our crews executed the concrete construction safely and efficiently, completing the work in time for the plant to resume operations the following week.
The success of this fast-paced project was driven by thorough pre-planning and the leadership of our superintendent. In preparation for the shutdown, our team pre-tied rebar cages, pre-cut formwork, and ensured all materials were on hand. This allowed for continuous excavation, steel placement, and monolithic pours without delay.
