Description

The construction of this pump station facility was crucial for providing midstream services to Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) producers. This facility serves as a link to deliver NGL products to two major market centers, namely Conway, KS, and Mont Belvieu, TX, as part of the Arbuckle North Pipeline. Covering a span of 440 miles, this pipeline facilitates the transportation of NGLs from Oklahoma to ONEOK’s Mont Belvieu, TX, fractionation and storage facility.

Our scope of work encompassed the installation of over 180 support piers, dedicated to accommodating a power distribution center and Control and Telecommunications Systems (CTS). Emphasis was placed on subgrade preparation, incorporating structural fill to ensure optimal conditions beneath the concrete, thereby establishing a foundation that adheres to stringent construction standards.

Effective communication served as a cornerstone throughout the project lifecycle, particularly in orchestrating permit inspections and navigating hazardous zones such as the brownfield, which harbored highly pressurized NGL. Given the potential risks associated, including the risk of gas release and explosion upon introduction of a spark, precise coordination and adherence to safety protocols were paramount.

In the brownfield area, Superior constructed the foundations of the NGL main line, station valve, and header—a manifold that directs flow into the pumps while maintaining pressure along the NGL cycle.

It was the imperative to maintain accuracy across the site, encompassing all support structures and equipment components, including three pumps, a strainer, and pressure control elements. These components, prefabricated and transported to the site, were positioned on our foundations and anchor bolts, requiring extreme precision in dimensioning and anchoring.

Superior effectively overcame this challenge by leveraging state-of-the-art total stations, ensuring accuracy down to 1/8” within 1,000 feet in our layouts. This technological proficiency guarantees precision in our construction processes, enhancing overall project efficiency and delivering results that meet the highest industry standards.
